Audi bulletin TSB_2056386_11

What it saysThis bulletin provides information about the steering wheel alignment. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Audi filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Oct 17, 2025, received Nov 8, 2025, about the wheels. It names 256 model years (2016–2026). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

Owners of the 253 model years this bulletin names have filed 3,783 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 7 of them name Wheels — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

Hi, I bought an Audi A3 2018 on november 2017 from Audi of rochester hills, michigan. Since then I have had issues with the original pirelli tires in the car. Two incidents happened within a span of 1 year where the tire was damaged on the side wall and and it was irreplaceable so I had to get a new tire within few months of buying the…

In mid May, 2025 I noticed at slow speed, a loud thumping noise was coming right rear of car. I brought it to the dealer on May 19, 2025. I was told to wait for analysis of the problem. After about two hours, the service advisor informed me that the mechanics had found and repaired a malfunction in the All-Wheel Drive mechanism.

2023 Audi A5 · Wheels · filed with NHTSA Jun 19, 2025 · ODI 11667977

The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) did not function as required, and pressure was dangerously low which significantly damaged the tires over a very short period of time (2-6 weeks). I AM concerned going forward if the TPMS utilized on the S5 does not function as should be expected per federal regulations.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Audi TSB_2056386_11 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the TSB_2056386_11 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does TSB_2056386_11 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 256 model years: 2026 Audi A3, 2025 Audi A3, 2024 Audi A3, 2023 Audi A3, 2022 Audi A3, 2020 Audi A3 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
