Questions about EV incentives

Is there still a federal EV tax credit?

No, not for a car bought now. The federal new and used clean-vehicle credits ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. What remains are state, local and utility programs, which is what these pages list.

Which programs are listed here?

Active programs open to individual buyers — rebates, tax credits, grants and loans — for electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid vehicles, from the U.S. Department of Energy's Laws & Incentives database, maintained by the National Laboratory of the Rockies. Fleet-only, business-only and expired programs are left out.

Why is my state not on the list?

Because the database lists no active individual-buyer program for it today. Utility programs change often, so check your electric utility's own site as well.

How current is this?

The list is re-read from the database every time the site is rebuilt, which is nightly. Each program links the source the database cites; confirm the terms there before you buy.
