The manufacturers filed it. Here it is, by model.
Deaths and injuries the manufacturers themselves reported to NHTSA
Every quarter each light-vehicle manufacturer tells NHTSA about every claim or notice it received alleging a death or injury in one of its vehicles. NHTSA publishes the tables per manufacturer and quarter; this is the same record laid out by make and model: 113,309 incidents on file across 43 makes, through 2026 Q1, 4,547 killed and 138,799 injured as claimed. Allegations the manufacturers received, not findings.

What these reports are, and are not
Source: 49 CFR 579.21The manufacturer’s own quarterly report
Under NHTSA’s Early Warning Reporting rule, every light-vehicle manufacturer must report every claim or notice it received alleging a death or injury in one of its vehicles: the model and model year, the incident date, the state, how many were killed or injured, and the systems the claimant named. The manufacturer files it; NHTSA publishes it.
An allegation, as received
A row is a lawsuit, a claim letter or a consumer notice that named a death or injury. It is not a finding that the vehicle caused anything, and NHTSA does not verify it. The systems named are the claimant’s, not an engineer’s.
Counts scale with sales
A model that sold two million will have more reports than one that sold fifty thousand. These pages count; they do not rank. Set a figure against the model’s production and its peers before reading anything into it.
Where the complete list is
Every report on a model and system, dated and numbered beside the recalls, investigations, bulletins and owner complaints, is exhibit F of the defect dossier. The same records are free to read here; the dossier is the file you can cite.
Questions about Early Warning Reporting
Source: NHTSAWhat is NHTSA Early Warning Reporting?
A rule (49 CFR Part 579, Subpart C) under the TREAD Act of 2000. Manufacturers report quarterly on deaths and injuries, property damage claims, warranty claims, field reports and consumer complaints, by model and model year. The death and injury reports are public; most of the rest is withheld as confidential business information.
Is this the same as NHTSA's complaint database?
No. Complaints are filed by owners with NHTSA. These are filed by the manufacturers, about claims made to them, and include incidents NHTSA never heard of directly.
Can I search by VIN?
NHTSA publishes the first eleven characters of each VIN. The model pages show them; a full VIN cannot be matched.
How current is this?
Through the latest quarter NHTSA has published (2026 Q1). Manufacturers file each quarter's report within 60 days of its end; the pages are rebuilt nightly.
