Why we publish the file
A statistic you cannot check is an advertisement. Every study here ships the full table as CSV and JSON, names the filter it applied and why, and links each row back to the federal record behind it. Where a figure needs a caveat to be honest — and the recall completion numbers badly do — the caveat is on the page, not in a footnote.

Anyone who wants a number they can check. Journalists, mostly — but the data files are there for anybody, and every figure links back to the federal record it came from.
Can I republish the charts and tables?
Yes, with a credit to WhichTrim and a link. The underlying records are public-domain federal data; the joins and the arithmetic are ours.
How often do these update?
Each study is regenerated with the site, weekly, from the current federal files. The figures on a study page are as of the date it carries, and they move as NHTSA's files move.
