A nameplate is the model name a manufacturer sells year after year — RAV4, F-150, Civic — as distinct from any one model year of it. A brand-new model year has a blank sheet; a nameplate has a record, and this ranks that record.
Volume sellers only — a car nobody owns has no complaints. A or B today, at least two of the previous three model years on file, none graded D or F, no park-outside or do-not-drive advisory, and a remedy on file for every campaign. Ranked by owner complaints per model year, then recalls per year.
