Audi bulletin TSB_2041717_14

What it saysThis bujlletin provides information regarding the GFF test plan required for A/C compressor replacements regardless of the concern. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Audi filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Sep 10, 2025, received Oct 3, 2025, about the visibility/wiper. It names 256 model years (2016–2026). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 253 model years this bulletin names have filed 3,765 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 27 of them name Visibility/Wiper — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

First of all I AM a retired police officer with 35 years of service..twenty five years as a certified accident investigator. My experience with safety hazards in reference to motor vehicles I have concluded that the side view mirrors on the Q5 (2016)are way too big and obstructs your visual fiield especially the drivers side mirror.

2016 Audi Q5 · Visibility/Wiper · filed with NHTSA Sep 4, 2019 · ODI 11253302

Drivers view is largely obstructed (you could lose sight of a crowd of people) by the outside mirrors. This is an obvious danger to all pedesatrians crossing in front of this vehicle that is turning left. And also affects the view on the right side. I unfortunately experienced a low speed crash directly related to this issue

2017 Audi SQ5 · Visibility/Wiper · filed with NHTSA Nov 3, 2016 · ODI 10924045

Panoramic roof glass exploded outwards while driving on the highway. No sign of rock damage or debris hitting. The glass is deformed outwards. The glass was sent towards the interior of the car. The sunroof shade was closed and many pieces of glass were caught by this otherwise the driver would have been hit by glass shards

2019 Audi SQ5 · Visibility/Wiper · filed with NHTSA Aug 30, 2024 · ODI 11611752

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Audi TSB_2041717_14 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the TSB_2041717_14 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does TSB_2041717_14 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 256 model years: 2026 Audi A3, 2025 Audi A3, 2024 Audi A3, 2023 Audi A3, 2022 Audi A3, 2020 Audi A3 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
