Stellantis bulletin 105646

What it saysModule - steering control & column NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Stellantis filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Oct 9, 2025, received Oct 15, 2025, about the steering. It names 51 model years across Jeep and Chrysler (2018–2026). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 51 model years this bulletin names have filed 13,752 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 2,956 of them name Steering — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

On the 2018 Jeep Wrangler, the 757 owners who gave an odometer reading for Steering reported it at a median of 6,458 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.

The steering has too much play before actually turning to either left or right. This is very noticeable at highway speeds. This makes the truck wander having to correct it constantly and when hitting the brakes it makes the truck pull to either side. I have been near hitting other cars and constantly correcting the wheel to stay in lane.

Wandering loose dead steering, brand new vehicle with only 176 miles. The vehicle wanders as you drive down the road, trying to stay in a straight line requires much vigilance and attention, if you look down to adjust your temperature or adjust the radio, the vehicle will veer towards another lane of traffic even though you've made no…

2019 Jeep Wrangler · Steering · filed with NHTSA Apr 14, 2019

Steering on jeep is very loose on cold mornings. It gets very wobbly and unable to control above 40mg. You have to be super careful when driving. Took it to the dealership and they said I would need to contact jeep wave as it’s a known issue with “ death wobble “. This jeep is a 2022 with zero modifications and has the crazy wobble

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Stellantis 105646 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the 105646 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does 105646 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 51 model years across 2 brands (Jeep and Chrysler): 2026 Chrysler Pacifica, 2025 Chrysler Pacifica, 2024 Chrysler Pacifica, 2023 Chrysler Pacifica, 2022 Chrysler Pacifica, 2021 Chrysler Pacifica and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
