Fiat/chrysler will not give me a time frame as to when recall v15 (right ball joint issue). I have called several dealerships and Chrysler corporate and they cannot give me any more information other than "we will let you know". There is no time frame whatsoever.
Two occurrences of complete loss of power steering assist during one day. First occurrence was while driving at approximately 25mph in a residential area. Vehicle was driven into parking lot and parked. The next occurrence was during the next drive cycle and occurred immediately after the vehicle was started and placed into reverse.
As I was driving on a three lane interstate with all three of my children in the automobile the power steering indicator light came on and I could not steer my car. I put on my flashers and started beeping my horn to alert other drivers. Thankfully, I was able to find a clear path over to the shoulder.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsAre steering problems common on the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica?
They are documented: NHTSA holds 186 owner complaints naming the steering on this model year (17% of everything owners filed about it), and 1 NHTSA investigation is filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.
Is there a recall for the steering on the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading for this model year (there are 16 filed under other headings). A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do steering problems show up on the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 11,127 miles; half of them between 4,000 and 29,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Steering" heading cover?
The steering column, rack, pump and power assist. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
