My 2020 Jeep Gladiator wanders off the road I have to keep trying to stay in lane. When I came to the red light stop the other driver asked me if I was ok basically thinking I was drunk driving. Took it to the dealer service and they said its normal with jeeps.

Steering at 100 miles Nov 1, 2019 NHTSA owner report
I now have over 5,000 miles on my new Jeep jt. Since day one the steering has been so sloppy above 10mph that I often wander out of my lane. The dealer said that this was a "Jeep thing" and get used to it. I currently own 9 jeeps, the oldest being a 1967 kaiser. This is not a "Jeep thing". All of my other jeeps drive normally.
Steering Oct 30, 2019 NHTSA owner report
The steering has a very excessive amount of "play" in it. Where while driving there seems to be a dead spot or lack of steering response to moving the steering wheel. Especially noticeable on the highway and while towing. The vehicle wanders back and forth across the lane. Can become dangerous at times

Common questions

Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communications

Are steering problems common on the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Pickup?

They are documented: NHTSA holds 181 owner complaints naming the steering on this model year (37% of everything owners filed about it), and 54 manufacturer bulletins are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.

Is there a recall for the steering on the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Pickup?

No recall campaign is filed under this heading for this model year (there are 7 filed under other headings). A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.

When do steering problems show up on the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Pickup?

Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 1,000 miles; half of them between 0 and 5,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.

What does NHTSA's "Steering" heading cover?

The steering column, rack, pump and power assist. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
