What it saysSteering requires steady correction force NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Jaguar Land Rover filed this with NHTSA as a manufacturer communication dated Feb 13, 2026, received Mar 4, 2026, about the steering. It names 26 model years across Land Rover and Jaguar (2021–2027). The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 26 model years this bulletin names have filed 522 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 29 of them name Steering — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

This morning I got into my Defender, started it, and the power steering was clearly not working at all. The steering wheel was not locked. With very significant effort I could turn the wheel. After searching online I found that this is apparently a widespread problem with Land Rover Defenders since about 2021.

2024 Land Rover Defender · Steering · filed with NHTSA Dec 26, 2023 · ODI 11561955

This is the third time this has happened. My 2019 Range Rover Evoque power steering malfunctions and the steering wheel physically will not turn the front wheels. I can only drive forward or reverse. Each time I take it to the Land Rover dealership, and they are unsure how to resolve my issue.

2025 Land Rover Discovery · Steering · filed with NHTSA Sep 29, 2026 · ODI 11767860

The ignition does not turn on or the car will not power on with the key. The car has been at the dealership for a month and they have been unable to repair what is clearly an electronic problem with the vehicle. The power button in the ignition does not power up and the vehicle does not start

2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport · Steering · filed with NHTSA Sep 24, 2022 · ODI 11486155

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Jaguar Land Rover TUCC_FEB2026_42 a recall?

No. A manufacturer communication is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the TUCC_FEB2026_42 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does TUCC_FEB2026_42 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 26 model years across 2 brands (Land Rover and Jaguar): 2026 Jaguar F-Pace, 2025 Jaguar F-Pace, 2024 Jaguar F-Pace, 2023 Jaguar F-Pace, 2022 Jaguar F-Pace, 2021 Jaguar F-Pace and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
