Hyundai bulletin 26-GI-003H

What it saysThis bulletin provides information related to the navigation and head unit software changes introduced in the 2026 2nd Navigation Map and Software Update. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Hyundai filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Oct 27, 2026, received Oct 30, 2026, about the electrical system. It names 58 model years (2020–2026). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 58 model years this bulletin names have filed 8,175 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 1,702 of them name Electrical System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

On the 2025 Hyundai Tucson, the 15 owners who gave an odometer reading for Electrical System reported it at a median of 5,000 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.

Speedometer stopped working and went to Zero MPH June 1, 2022. Vehicle has only 2,800 miles on it. Shutting off and restarting the car did not solve this. Simultaneously, the car compass indicated wrong direction; a safety announcement came over the infotainment system repeatedly telling us we were driving the wrong way on the street (we…

Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failed while driving. Heard a pop from below the rear seats. "Check vehicle electrical system" message popped up initially, then changed to "Stop vehicle and check power supply" Vehicle could not exceed 20mph directly after failure, then lost all driving power just as I pulled the vehicle off the…

2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Feb 24, 2026 · ODI 11720305

Over the last 3 months at least a dozen times the 12v auxiliary battery is completely dead after parking the car outdoors for an hour or so. This poses a safety issue, especially at night because you cannot easily access the car. You have to fumble around trying to get the key hole cover off in order to use the key supplied in the fob.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Hyundai 26-GI-003H a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the 26-GI-003H repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way. Every Hyundai warranty extension on file lists the ones Hyundai has filed.

Which vehicles does 26-GI-003H cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 58 model years: 2025 Hyundai Elantra, 2024 Hyundai Elantra, 2023 Hyundai Elantra, 2022 Hyundai Elantra, 2021 Hyundai Elantra, 2022 Hyundai Ioniq and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
