Audi bulletin A6923922063398_3

What it saysThis bulletin provides information for when the seatbelt is hard to latch in the belt buckle. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Audi filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Jun 30, 2023, received Jul 10, 2023, about the seat belts. It names 171 model years (2018–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 170 model years this bulletin names have filed 2,572 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 10 of them name Seat Belts — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

The contact owns a 2022 Audi A3. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V515000 (Seat Belts) and 22V652000 (Air Bags) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs.

2022 Audi A3 · Seat Belts · filed with NHTSA Sep 30, 2022 · ODI 11487318

The seat belt has now come unlocked from the locked position multiple times without unbuckling the seat. This is an issue because it's the seat belt used to install an infant car seat, so the car seat is not locked into place, which could be a major issue in the event of a crash.

2021 Audi Q7 · Seat Belts · filed with NHTSA Jul 27, 2023 · ODI 11534930

I was traveling approximately 50 mph on a highway when we were rear-ended. The car spun around and we were both thrown forward due to the malfunctioning of both the driver and passenger seat belts. Further inspection found the rear seatbelts as well did not function properly.

2021 Audi Q3 · Seat Belts · filed with NHTSA Jul 25, 2023 · ODI 11534285

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Audi A6923922063398_3 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the A6923922063398_3 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does A6923922063398_3 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 171 model years: 2024 Audi A3, 2023 Audi A3, 2022 Audi A3, 2020 Audi A3, 2019 Audi A3, 2018 Audi A3 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
