Stellantis bulletin 105039
Stellantis filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated May 14, 2025, received May 16, 2025, about the fuel/propulsion system. It names 22 model years across Jeep and Ram (2016–2023). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseOwners of the 22 model years this bulletin names have filed 12,555 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 776 of them name Fuel/Propulsion System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.
On the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the 26 owners who gave an odometer reading for Fuel/Propulsion System reported it at a median of 7,200 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.
At a gas station, with the engine turned off. On 3 different occasions, when filling up my gas tank, when I start pumping gas, the tank stops taking gas as if the tank is full. In order to continue filling the gas tank, I have to hold the gas hose handle in a specific position to allow the gas to fill the tank without stopping.

You cannot properly fill your gas tank without having to manipulate the pump handle the wrong ways. Every time i've had to fill up I have to sit there and constantly have to reset the pump handle because all the pump think the tank is full. This is a safety issue because I never know when the tank is actually full.
2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee · Fuel/Propulsion System · filed with NHTSA Jul 10, 2020
Having reoccurring issue with filling my tank up with gas. I've tried on several different pumps but it will not pump and spills out even though i've just started and my tank is only about a quarter filled. Not sure how to fix it as I have to spent 20 minutes at a time to fill the tank. Every $0.20 the pump stops.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5Is Stellantis 105039 a recall?
No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.
Is the 105039 repair free?
Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.
Which vehicles does 105039 cover?
The manufacturer filed it against 22 model years across 2 brands (Jeep and Ram): 2023 Jeep Gladiator, 2022 Jeep Gladiator, 2021 Jeep Gladiator, 2020 Jeep Gladiator Pickup, 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
