2023 Jeep Wrangler fuel system problems
64 of the 369 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the 2023 Jeep Wrangler name the fuel system (NHTSA’s “Fuel/Propulsion System” heading — fuel tanks, lines, pumps and injection — and on an EV, the propulsion battery and motors). Filed under the same heading: 1 recall. Every figure below is a document in a federal file, linked; none is a failure rate, and none is a verdict on any one car.

Counts are owner reports to NHTSA, not verified defects, and scale with how many of these were sold; nothing here is a rate. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so “Fuel/Propulsion System” means the same area of the vehicle, not one fault.

Failed Component: Powertrain (PCM/TCM/HCP software calibration) & Electrical/Steering (Fire Recalls). Safety Risk & Description: Following recent mandatory manufacturer software updates, this vehicle has developed a severe, dangerous drivetrain defect.
The hybrid propulsion system in my 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe intermittently malfunctions while driving. The “D” (Drive) indicator on the gear selector begins flashing, and the engine RPMs suddenly decrease without warning. During these events, the vehicle loses propulsion power and responsiveness.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? My 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe (VIN ) has experienced repeated failures in the high-voltage hybrid electrical system, including “Service Hybrid System” warnings, failure to hold charge, and loss of EV function.
The vehicle has been under recall since September 2024. They have been unable to repair it. I requested a refund or replacement since it has been nearly a year now without repair. The company offered me $9,000 and $9,000 to the lawyer I had contact them.
Recall 95B. I have been given the runaround for months on the status of this recall from the FCA recall center and Jeep. I purchased a hybrid Jeep 4xE with the main purpose of being able to run both electric and gas.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsAre fuel system problems common on the 2023 Jeep Wrangler?
They are documented: NHTSA holds 64 owner complaints naming the fuel system on this model year (17% of everything owners filed about it), and 1 recall is filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.
Is there a recall for the fuel system on the 2023 Jeep Wrangler?
Yes — one campaign is filed under this heading: 23V263000. A recall is matched by VIN; check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
When do fuel system problems show up on the 2023 Jeep Wrangler?
Too few of the complaints carry an odometer reading to say. The model year's page shows the mileage curve across every system where it can.
What does NHTSA's "Fuel/Propulsion System" heading cover?
Fuel tanks, lines, pumps and injection — and on an EV, the propulsion battery and motors. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
