GM bulletin N222375791-08

What it saysDue to the industry-wide semiconductor shortage, the park assist feature is not functional on certain 2022 and 2023 model year vehicles, built beginning December 2, 2021. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

GM filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Sep 5, 2023, received Sep 6, 2023, about the electrical system. It names 29 model years across Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac (2022–2023). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

What the dealer does Dealers are to replace the park assist control module to restore the Park Assist feature.

Picked out of NHTSA’s summary below, word for word. The document itself is the record, and the dealer checks the VIN.

Customer Satisfaction Program - Due to the industry-wide semiconductor shortage, the park assist feature is not functional on certain 2022 and 2023 model year vehicles, built beginning December 2, 2021. The affected vehicle owners should have been made aware of the condition at sale, and notified, that once parts are available, they would be eligible for a no additional cost retrofit to enable the feature. Dealers are to replace the park assist control module to restore the Park Assist feature. Note: some vehicles may also require reprogramming of the instrument cluster or the active safety control module.

Read by machine from the document NHTSA serves (18 pages), read Sep 30, 2026. A part number is shown only where it matches GM’s own catalogue shape, an operation only with its code and time, and a description only where the reader got it whole; anything it could not settle is left out, and the PDF is the record. Times are the manufacturer’s warranty allowances, not a quote. Listings and prices on eBay Motors are the seller’s.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

Doing the repair yourself, or pricing it before the shop does? Search the part by fitment on eBay Motors — the listing and the price are the seller’s.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 29 model years this bulletin names have filed 2,221 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 463 of them name Electrical System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

On the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado, the 14 owners who gave an odometer reading for Electrical System reported it at a median of 51,000 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.

I rely heavily on this vehicle for my business and within 1 year of ownership, the vehicle broke down on the highway allowing it to only run @ 30mph. After finally locating a dealer who could evaluate the vehicle in less than 1 week, I was informed that the part was unavailable and they indicated, "it could take 1 month or 3 months to…

2023 GMC Sierra 2500HD · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Jun 6, 2025 · ODI 11665263

Started vehicle in morning and no sound from the infotainment system (even if radio screen is on). Noticed turn indicators sound no longer functioned as well as I believe auto stop function also became non-functional. Safety concern while driving. Had to reset by performing a system re-set/re-boot myself to make everything work again.

2023 Cadillac XT4 · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Mar 1, 2026 · ODI 11721284

Electrical component- Dashboard is constantly glitching, blue-tooth will not connect properly, electrical appears to turn off randomly while driving to the point we have to pullover because it appears and feels like the truck is turning off. Power step running boards malfunction- They don't open or close when they are supposed to.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is GM N222375791-08 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the N222375791-08 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way. Every GM warranty extension on file lists the ones GM has filed.

Which vehicles does N222375791-08 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 29 model years across 4 brands (Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac): 2023 Buick Enclave, 2022 Buick Enclave, 2023 Buick Encore, 2022 Buick Encore, 2023 Cadillac XT4, 2022 Cadillac XT4 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
