Mercedes-Benz filed this with NHTSA as a manufacturer communication dated May 30, 2025, received Jun 3, 2025, about the electrical system — 2 documents under this number. It names 100 model years (2018–2025). A manufacturer communication is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

What the bulletin says

In our continuing efforts to ensure the proper performance of Mercedes-Benz products and to enhance the satisfaction of our customers, Mercedes-Benz USA is extending the warranty coverage for the Diagnostic Module for Tank Leakage Detection (“DMTL”) on your vehicle from the original New Vehicle Limited Warranty of 4 years / 50,000 miles to 10 years/120,000 miles (whichever occurs first). This applies to the vehicle regardless of ownership.
One of the 357 warranty extensions and special-coverage programs on file — every make, with the term each runs to.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseOwners of the 81 model years this bulletin names have filed 2,249 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 653 of them name Electrical System, Fuel/Propulsion System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.
On the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class, the 13 owners who gave an odometer reading for Electrical System reported it at a median of 6,615 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.
During regular use my 2023, Mercedes Cla 250, had a fault in the instrument display in which the display shut off completely. Only the media display remained on, however the media display is completely useless in this scenario, only the instrument display can show the speed in which the vehicle is traveling and the Rpm range in which the…

My car’s check engine light came on and my vehicle shut off while I was driving at 40-45 mph on the highway. It has repeatedly done this. I contacted dealership immediately and was told there is a recall for my vehicle coming out on 08/25/2023. My vehicle isn’t safe to drive and they did not have a repair available or solution available.
2023 Mercedes-Benz G-Class · Fuel/Propulsion System · filed with NHTSA Aug 14, 2023
A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5Is Mercedes-Benz CL - 05012025 a recall?
No. A manufacturer communication is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.
Is the CL - 05012025 repair free?
Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.
Which vehicles does CL - 05012025 cover?
The manufacturer filed it against 100 model years: 2022 Mercedes-Benz A-Class, 2021 Mercedes-Benz A-Class, 2020 Mercedes-Benz A-Class, 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class, 2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, 2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
