What it saysA creaking type noise from the roof area is heard while driving. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Jaguar Land Rover filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Mar 22, 2024, received Apr 5, 2024, about the equipment. It names 19 model years across Land Rover and Jaguar (2017–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 19 model years this bulletin names have filed 631 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 24 of them name Structure — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

JLRNA has identified my vehicle as unsafe to drive due to bonding delamination of the front windshield. As a result, the windshield had water egress. The service department has deemed my vehicle unsafe to drive as the windshield may not be properly bonded to the vehicle body, allowing it to loosen or detach during a crash.

> > I’m reaching out regarding an issue with Range Rover Las Vegas. Our body shop represents a client whose vehicle requires an aluminum roof-panel replacement. The dealership has refused to sell the part, stating that because it is made of aluminum it may only be sold to JLR-certified facilities.

The bottom part of my front grille came loose. After checking, the fixtures at the top were still ok, but one of the brackets that holds it at the bottom seemed to have broken. Entire piece lies behind the front bumper. The car has never been in an accident, not has been hit in the front.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Jaguar Land Rover SFCC_MAR2024_70 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the SFCC_MAR2024_70 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does SFCC_MAR2024_70 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 19 model years across 2 brands (Land Rover and Jaguar): 2024 Jaguar E-Pace, 2023 Jaguar E-Pace, 2021 Jaguar E-Pace, 2020 Jaguar E-Pace, 2019 Jaguar E-Pace, 2018 Jaguar E-Pace and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
