Ford bulletin TSB 24-2251

What it saysThis article supersedes TSB 24-2087 to update the vehicle lines, model years affected, action and service procedure. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Ford filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Aug 22, 2024, received Sep 2, 2024, about the lane departure. It names 16 model years across Ford and Lincoln (2021–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

This article supersedes TSB 24-2087 to update the vehicle lines, model years affected, action and service procedure. Some 2021-2024 Mustang Mach-E/F-150, 2022-2024 F-150 Lightning/Expedition/Navigator, 2023-2024 Corsair vehicles may exhibit an inoperative BlueCruise and lane centering with DTCs U2018:51 stored in the camera module - rear (CMR) and U0565:86 stored in the image processing module A (IPMA) without DTC U3000:49 stored in the CMR. This may be due to the software level of the CMR. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the CMR module using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS).

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 16 model years this bulletin names have filed 3,809 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 376 of them name Forward Collision Avoidance, Lane Departure — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle, several safety features would not operate as intended. While driving in reverse, the rear cross-traffic alert would sometimes malfunction and not alert the driver that a vehicle or an object or pedestrian was near the rear of the vehicle.

On 5/14/2025 at aprox 5:35pm I was completely stopped in traffic when all of a sudden my car started to accelerate without me pressing on the accelerator. I pressed the brake pedal, however the car continued to move forward, by this time the brake pedal was pressed to the floor and the car was continuing to more forward.

2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E · Forward Collision Avoidance · filed with NHTSA May 15, 2025

Since leasing the vehicle in February 2024, I have experienced persistent failures in the collision prevention system and other critical safety features. Despite multiple service visits, the issue remains unresolved, with Lincoln attributing the problem to a system update that has been repeatedly delayed.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Ford TSB 24-2251 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the TSB 24-2251 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does TSB 24-2251 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 16 model years across 2 brands (Ford and Lincoln): 2024 Ford Expedition, 2023 Ford Expedition, 2022 Ford Expedition, 2024 Ford F-150, 2023 Ford F-150, 2022 Ford F-150 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
