Nissan Rogue visibility and wiper problems, 2016–2026
225 of the 4,151 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Nissan Rogue 2016–2026 name the wipers, glass and mirrors (NHTSA’s “Visibility/Wiper” heading — windshields, wipers, washers, mirrors and defrosters). The loudest years: 2025 (80), 2023 (60), 2024 (42). Filed under the same heading across these years: no document yet. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.

Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the wipers, glass and mirrors. Nothing here is a rate.

On October 20, 2025, at approximately 10:30 a.m., my 2025 Nissan Rogue was parked in a public parking lot for several hours. When I started the engine, I heard a sudden loud pop, and the rear windshield immediately imploded, scattering glass both inside and outside the vehicle.
While parked my rear window imploded and shattered. There was no impact, or previous damage. I opened my driver door to get in and then it crumbled
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the sunroof exploded without impact. There was an abnormal popping sound detected before the failure. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was determined that the sunroof needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired.
There was no incident, just routine occurrences of the following that could lead to one: 1) the wipers do not clear the upper right (passenger) side of the windshield, creating a blind spot, which is especially dangerous when turning. Photo attached, though note this is a mild instance and visibility can be much worse.
while driving home, I came to a red light. The rear windshield of the vehicle suddenly exploded then soon shattered without any impact. No prior damage or warning signs were present. This poses a significant safety risk

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsWhich Nissan Rogue years have the most visibility and wiper complaints?
2025, 80; 2023, 60; 2024, 42. Raw counts, and an older year has had longer to collect them; by share of each year's own complaints the loudest is the 2025 (43%).
Is there a recall for the wipers, glass and mirrors on the Nissan Rogue?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading on any of these model years. A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do visibility and wiper problems show up on the Nissan Rogue?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 23,000 miles across the model years; half of them between 11,000 and 50,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Visibility/Wiper" heading cover?
Windshields, wipers, washers, mirrors and defrosters. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
