Jeep bulletin S2219000004 REV. A

What it saysService Electric Power Steering Message On Cluster. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Jeep filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Mar 18, 2026, received Nov 7, 2022, about the steering — 2 documents under this number: S2219000004 and 1 more. It names 11 model years (2022–2026). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

Owners of the 11 model years this bulletin names have filed 1,189 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 56 of them name Steering — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Series II. THIA WHOLE VEHICLE IS A DEATH TRAP!! Since owning this vehicle it's been one issue after another with one dealership visit "repair" after another. 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer · Steering · filed with NHTSA Oct 6, 2023

My car recently hit 10k miles. We had a safe trip to Florida the week before no issues or signs of any issue. Two days ago I take my son to the pool at my mother in laws house and go to visit my parents and when I start to leave and pull out of the driveway my car stops and my steering wheel won’t turn but a certain amount.

2023 Jeep Wagoneer · Steering · filed with NHTSA May 10, 2024

At two thousand miles the power steering went dead. Limped it home as I was told it would be difficult to drive but not unmanageable. Once I drove 35 miles home the dealership said bring it in and we can get you a loaner. On driving to the dealership the power steering turned on for half a second.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Jeep S2219000004 REV. A a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the S2219000004 REV. A repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does S2219000004 REV. A cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 11 model years: 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 2025 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
