What it saysThis bulletin provides information for when the MIL is on, DTC P148D00 and P044200; leak diagnostic pump. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Audi filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Mar 8, 2024, received Apr 4, 2024, about the engine. It names 44 model years (2019–2023). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Read by machine from the document NHTSA serves (3 pages), read Sep 30, 2026. A part number is shown only where it matches Audi’s own catalogue shape, an operation only with its code and time, and a description only where the reader got it whole; anything it could not settle is left out, and the PDF is the record. Times are the manufacturer’s warranty allowances, not a quote. Listings and prices on eBay Motors are the seller’s.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

Doing the repair yourself, or pricing it before the shop does? Search the part by fitment on eBay Motors — the listing and the price are the seller’s.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 44 model years this bulletin names have filed 688 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 171 of them name Engine — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

The first time, while driving at 50-55mph, the engine decelerated suddenly. After about 10-15 seconds struggles with the gas pedal and brake pedal, the car accelerated normally. I pulled safely to side of the road to shut off the engine and start again. Things seemed to work like normal. The control panels did not show any warning signs.

2021 Audi A7 · Engine · filed with NHTSA Apr 5, 2026 · ODI 11729313

We are told by Audi dealer service that our entire water pump system is defective and needs to be replaced at a cost of $5000+. We've had Audis subject to past recall and class action settlements. This is an ongoing, known issue for Audi for over a decade. Frustratingly, our 2020 SQ7 model is not included in any current recalls.

2020 Audi SQ7 · Engine · filed with NHTSA Jul 25, 2025 · ODI 11676169

The contact owns a 2021 Audi A6. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle overheated. The engine overheating and the low coolant warning light illuminated. In addition, the engine seized. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a coolant leak and a failed coolant pump vacuum.

2021 Audi A6 · Engine · filed with NHTSA May 11, 2026 · ODI 11736958

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Audi A2024672073032_1 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the A2024672073032_1 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does A2024672073032_1 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 44 model years: 2022 Audi A6, 2021 Audi A6, 2020 Audi A6, 2019 Audi A6, 2022 Audi A7, 2021 Audi A7 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
