Ram 2500 electrical problems, 2016–2026

850 of the 4,388 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Ram 2500 2016–2026 name the electrical system (NHTSA’s “Electrical System” heading — wiring, modules, batteries, charging, infotainment and driver displays — NHTSA's broadest heading). The loudest years: 2018 (475), 2017 (121), 2022 (61). Filed under the same heading across these years: 11 manufacturer bulletins, 7 recall campaigns. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.

Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the electrical system. Nothing here is a rate.

Purchased this vehicle 8 months ago and from what I have been reading online this is an ongoing problem with Dodge Ram 2500 and this ABS module electrical issue is considered the most expensive part fixing the Dodge Ram, so how is it fair to the consumer to have to pay 3,000 for an electrical issue less than one year ago and only 35,000…

The ABS light constantly beeps and flashes. It is available for inspection. We are not sure if it is unsafe. We had it hooked up to the code machine from a dealership and they said it definitely needs to be fixed. Yes it has been confirmed. Not inspected from the Ram dealership yet because I was hoping it would be at no charge.

Which Ram 2500 years have the most electrical complaints?

2018, 475; 2017, 121; 2022, 61. Raw counts, and an older year has had longer to collect them; by share of each year's own complaints the loudest is the 2025 (60%).

What does NHTSA's "Electrical System" heading cover?

Wiring, modules, batteries, charging, infotainment and driver displays — NHTSA's broadest heading. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
