Jeep Wrangler body and structure problems, 2016–2027
119 of the 6,691 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Jeep Wrangler 2016–2027 name the body and structure (NHTSA’s “Structure” heading — body panels, frame, roof rails, trim and glass as fitted). The loudest years: 2018 (100), 2017 (19). Filed under the same heading across these years: 5 manufacturer bulletins, 3 recall campaigns, 2 NHTSA investigations. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.

Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the body and structure. Nothing here is a rate.

Welds on track bar mount not lined up correctly. Throughout the rest of the frame, lots of slag, misaligned welds, bad penetration, malformed weld caps, spatter, and porosity
I looked under my brand new Wrangler jl after hearing people complain about bad welds. Sure enough, my welds are awful. A Jeep service technician told me there is no way this should have been able to leave the factory. As of right now, Jeep has not done anything for me. Feel very unsafe in this vehicle. I hope Jeep has a recall soon.
The entire body of the Jeep has rust corrosion inside and out the gears always grind especially in reverse seatbelts are not working in rear seats dealship says they can't help me fix the issue. They did a leak test and found several leaks throughout the Jeep. I currently have no carpet due to the off and on leak issues.
Jeep was parked in my driveway and when we had a storm on feb 1 thru feb 3, 2019 and I enter my Jeep after the 3 day storm the driver side floor was in 3 inches of water and totally flooded. I got towels and soaked the water up.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsWhich Jeep Wrangler years have the most body and structure complaints?
2018, 100; 2017, 19. Raw counts, and an older year has had longer to collect them; by share of each year's own complaints the loudest is the 2017 (6%).
Is there a recall for the body and structure on the Jeep Wrangler?
Yes — 3 campaigns are filed under this heading across these model years: 23V191000 (2022), 18V675000 (2019), 18V231000 (2018). A recall is matched by VIN, and applies to specific years; check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
When do body and structure problems show up on the Jeep Wrangler?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 7,000 miles across the model years; half of them between 2,000 and 20,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Structure" heading cover?
Body panels, frame, roof rails, trim and glass as fitted. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
