Honda Odyssey body and structure problems, 2016–2027
179 of the 3,662 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Honda Odyssey 2016–2027 name the body and structure (NHTSA’s “Structure” heading — body panels, frame, roof rails, trim and glass as fitted). The loudest years: 2018 (97), 2020 (30), 2016 (25). Filed under the same heading across these years: 9 manufacturer bulletins. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.

Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the body and structure. Nothing here is a rate.

In owners’ own words

Driver's side sliding door won't close. The issue actually presented itself the day we purchase it and they service department called it a "hiccup". When trying to close the door, the sensor beeps three times and then reopens.
Sliding doors do no close at times. It is inconsistent and when taken to the dealer they cannot replicate. There are numerous complaints online as well as videos of the issue. I had an issue where the passenger sliding door stopped opening altogether.
I have had 3 Power Tailgate modules fail due to water leaks in the rear panel or window of the vehicle. I have had 2 leaks repaired and two modules replaced within a 6 month period (June '24 and December '24). 6 weeks later (Feb 14, 2024) have had the 3 module fail due to water intrusion following a heavy rain
Sliding door stopped operating as a result of "badly torn inner bushings" which required the door motor and control arm to be replaced. This occurred just from normal use of the vehicle. At certain points, the opposite door also began to exhibit the same symptoms as the other.
2016 Honda Odyssey. Driver side sliding door latches failed to operate. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle made a beeping noise and the door light illuminated when the doors were not latched.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsWhich Honda Odyssey years have the most body and structure complaints?
2018, 97; 2020, 30; 2016, 25. Raw counts, and an older year has had longer to collect them; by share of each year's own complaints the loudest is the 2023 (10%).
Is there a recall for the body and structure on the Honda Odyssey?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading on any of these model years. A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do body and structure problems show up on the Honda Odyssey?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 15,000 miles across the model years; half of them between 5,000 and 29,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Structure" heading cover?
Body panels, frame, roof rails, trim and glass as fitted. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
