Nissan filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Jan 22, 2024, received Feb 8, 2024, about the power train. It names 14 model years (2016–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

What the bulletin says
Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communicationDIAGNOSING REAR FINAL DRIVE ASSEMBLY LEAKS SERVICE INFORMATION If a Rear Final Drive Assembly (rear solid axle) is found to be leaking from one, or more, of the locations listed below, the source(s) of the leak should first be identified and, if possible repaired before the Rear Final Drive Assembly is considered for replacement. A Rear Final Drive Assembly should not be replaced unless bearing, gear, or other significant damage has occurred. Possible points of fluid leaks: ï· Front Oil Seal (Pinion Seal) ï· Axle Tube Seal ï· ABS Rear Wheel Sensor ï· Rear Axle Wheel Bearing Seal ï· Gear Carrier Cover Gasket ï· Drain Plug IMPORTANT: If a Rear Final Drive Assembly is found to have been replaced for a repairable leak and no internal damage is present, the claim will be charged back. Refer to pages 2-5 for additional information that illustrates and/or describes some, but not all, possible points where fluid leaks can occur, as well as helpful service HINTs. ï· This bulletin is only intended as a diagnostic reference and does not direct or imply repair. ï· Refer to the ESM for any applicable repair procedures, if needed.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseOwners of the 13 model years this bulletin names have filed 653 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 153 of them name Power Train — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.
On the 2016 Nissan Titan XD, the 17 owners who gave an odometer reading for Power Train reported it at a median of 16,000 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.

I have noticed this problem a few times, specifically in highway traffic. When getting back up to speed, i have noticed my 2022 Nissan Titan suddenly jerk as I am accelerating back up to the posted speed limit. This has happened a few times. First time I did not pay it to much consideration, but now it's something that worries me.

The automatic transmission in my 2024 Nissan Titan PRO-4X intermittently malfunctions when slowing to a stop. As the vehicle decelerates to about 1–2 mph, there is a distinct “bump” or “lurch” as if the truck has been lightly rear-ended. The sensation occurs most often at traffic lights or rolling stops.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5Is Nissan NTB24-007 a recall?
No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.
Is the NTB24-007 repair free?
Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.
Which vehicles does NTB24-007 cover?
The manufacturer filed it against 14 model years: 2024 Nissan Titan, 2023 Nissan Titan, 2022 Nissan Titan, 2021 Nissan Titan, 2020 Nissan Titan, 2019 Nissan Titan and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
