Jaguar Land Rover bulletin SFCC_SEP2023_37

What it saysCustomer reports coolant level low message on dash or a coolant leak. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Jaguar Land Rover filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Sep 22, 2023, received Oct 6, 2023, about the engine. It names 17 model years across Land Rover and Jaguar (2020–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 17 model years this bulletin names have filed 520 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 121 of them name Engine, Power Train — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

I was driving on Ware Rd about 50 MPH on my way home. The vehicle turned off while I was driving and had to turn into a street before the vehicle stopped moving. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the failure. If I had been on a highway, there would not have been a way for me to get out of dangerous traffic.

2022 Land Rover Discovery · Engine · filed with NHTSA Jan 4, 2026 · ODI 11708665

After coming to a complete stop at an intersection, I looked left-right-left before proceeding across the intersection. At the time I began to cross the intersection my vehicle seemingly did not accelerate as normal, causing my vehicle to be hit on the right driver side panel, spun around, and ripping the entire front end of my car off.

2023 Land Rover Range Rover · Engine · filed with NHTSA Jun 20, 2026 · ODI 11745341

I am reporting what I believe is a safety‑related defect involving the automatic transmission in my 2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport, VIN . Approximately five months after the factory warranty expired, at around 44,000 miles, the transmission began slipping unexpectedly, and the vehicle would not accelerate above roughly 25–35 mph.

2022 Land Rover Discovery · Power Train · filed with NHTSA Aug 5, 2026 · ODI 11754980

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Jaguar Land Rover SFCC_SEP2023_37 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the SFCC_SEP2023_37 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does SFCC_SEP2023_37 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 17 model years across 2 brands (Land Rover and Jaguar): 2024 Jaguar F-Pace, 2023 Jaguar F-Pace, 2022 Jaguar F-Pace, 2021 Jaguar F-Pace, 2024 Land Rover Defender, 2023 Land Rover Defender and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
