Stellantis filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Sep 15, 2023, received Jun 27, 2022, about the visibility/wiper — 3 documents under this number. It names 19 model years across Jeep, Ram and Chrysler (2016–2023). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

One page for every brand it was filed under. Each brand’s bulletins: Jeep · Ram · Chrysler.

Rain Sensor Before replacing the rain sensor during a front windshield replacement inspect the part for part numbers. If you have part numbers; 68507366, 68483780, 68384226 or 68384225, these parts do not utilize a replaceable gel pad, only replace the sensor for a missing or damaged gel pad. For part numbers 68298334, 68298468, 68607452 or 68194700 the gel pad should be replaced during all windshield replacements and can be ordered through MOPAR, complete sensor replacement is not necessary. Contact: FCA Redacted Content for further questions If no response in 15 minutes, proceed with repair.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Stellantis 9004542 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the 9004542 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does 9004542 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 19 model years across 3 brands (Jeep, Ram and Chrysler): 2022 Chrysler Pacifica, 2020 Chrysler Pacifica, 2020 Chrysler Voyager, 2022 Jeep Cherokee, 2021 Jeep Cherokee, 2019 Jeep Cherokee and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
