This happened on a 2024 Jeep Gladiator. When parking I went to set the parking brake and as I pulled the handle I heard a pop and felt the handle release all pressure. With the handle up there was no braking effect. Dealer repaired by hooking the right wheel cable back onto the bracket located under the center console, and then adjusting

Right rear axle seal failure, was already inspected and verified at dealership. With the axle seal leaking, there is a hazard and potential for brake failure due to the gear oil covering the rear brake. Also, metal to metal differential gears will occur, causing metal shavings to contaminate the rear differential housing.

The contact owns a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle felt like it went into neutral. All the instrument lights illuminated. The brakes were depressed but failed to respond. The driver lost control of the vehicle and clipped an unknown vehicle.
