GM bulletin PIC6378C

What it saysThis Preliminary Information communicates helpful information on diagnosing general customer concerns related to a power folding top. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

GM filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Sep 26, 2023, received Dec 26, 2023, about the visibility/wiper. It names 22 model years across Chevrolet and Buick (2016–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 22 model years this bulletin names have filed 1,284 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 43 of them name Visibility/Wiper — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

My 2024 Chevrolet Convertible has a safety issue with the Rear Vision Camera display. It has a severe reddish tint that blurs images when backing up but only when dark. Pictures attached. Is this truly normal? I wouldn’t think GM would engineer a safety issue and this is an aberration on my vehicle. Should be camera be moved?

2024 Chevrolet Corvette · Visibility/Wiper · filed with NHTSA Sep 7, 2024 · ODI 11613169

Whenever the A/C is running the defrosters stay open and badly fog the windshield on the inside...gm is aware and has fixes that do not work. I have attempted to have the dealer and GM correct it (it appears to be extremely widespread as a problem)...gm responded that the car functions as it was designed. I find it dangerous

2018 Chevrolet Camaro · Visibility/Wiper · filed with NHTSA Mar 22, 2019 · ODI 11190921

The rear window of this car has separated and when I contacted the manufacturer they indicated a service bulletin was issued but they are not liable for the repair. The window has become more and more separated and I'm using glue to hold it on but it's becoming undrivable due to the risk of it separating while on the road.

2017 Buick Cascada · Visibility/Wiper · filed with NHTSA Feb 15, 2026 · ODI 11718080

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is GM PIC6378C a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the PIC6378C repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way. Every GM warranty extension on file lists the ones GM has filed.

Which vehicles does PIC6378C cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 22 model years across 2 brands (Chevrolet and Buick): 2019 Buick Cascada, 2018 Buick Cascada, 2017 Buick Cascada, 2016 Buick Cascada, 2024 Chevrolet Camaro, 2023 Chevrolet Camaro and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
