Audi bulletin TSB_2062288_5

What it saysThis bulletin provides information when the electric steering column adjustment is not working; DTC B14BF01 is stored in the BCM 1. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Audi filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Aug 2, 2025, received Sep 4, 2025, about the power train. It names 30 model years (2019–2023). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 30 model years this bulletin names have filed 283 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 38 of them name Power Train — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

I was driving my vehicle when the engine surged and then a transmission warning light came on and there was an immediate and complete loss of drive power. After the vehicle glided to a stop, there was no drive transmission in either forward or reverse. There was no pre-warning and no earlier incidence that led up to this issue.

2021 Audi A6 · Power Train · filed with NHTSA Apr 9, 2026 · ODI 11730290

While driving, car suddenly started overheating. Warning message asked me to pull over and let the car run idle. However, I was on a free way that was under construction and all shoulders were closed. So no way for me to stop for at least 4 miles. I was afraid that the engine would blow while driving the whole time.

2021 Audi RS · Power Train · filed with NHTSA Oct 2, 2025 · ODI 11691071

Vehicle engine would suddenly stop working, warning, "drive system malfunction: stop vehicle safely." It has happened 3 times within 3 days in the middle of the intersection. Dealers wouldn't take this issue seriously and they asked me to make an appointment online, which is scheduled to be 1 month away.

2019 Audi A8 · Power Train · filed with NHTSA Feb 17, 2022 · ODI 11452496

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Audi TSB_2062288_5 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the TSB_2062288_5 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does TSB_2062288_5 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 30 model years: 2023 Audi A6, 2022 Audi A6, 2021 Audi A6, 2020 Audi A6, 2019 Audi A6, 2023 Audi A7 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
