Honda HR-V electrical problems, 2016–2027
313 of the 1,847 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Honda HR-V 2016–2027 name the electrical system (NHTSA’s “Electrical System” heading — wiring, modules, batteries, charging, infotainment and driver displays — NHTSA's broadest heading). The loudest years: 2019 (67), 2016 (56), 2018 (48). Filed under the same heading across these years: 2 manufacturer bulletins. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.

Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the electrical system. Nothing here is a rate.

the panel lights come on out of nowhere, showing the problem is a coil. The coil and the torques are changed but the problem continues. As soon as the lights come on, the car, HR-V, starts making a mistake that doesn't let me drive well. It has already been taken to the dealer on several occasions but they cannot solve the problem
I'm reporting two issues: 1) The gas gauge (the 3rd circle on instrument panel) keeps going out. Over the 18 months, when starting the car on cold mornings, the gas gauge would show blank, I can't see how much gas I have in the car. After about 10 minutes, the gas gauge information would show up.
It first started out by what I thought was just a issue with me having three new tires bc it would drive as if it was scrubbing. One day I was on my way back from a hair appointment and came to a complete stop and the car went from being in drive to neutral and flashing with the brake light so from that moment on I pulled the car over…
2016 Honda Hr-V - intermittent problem with the car not starting (push button start); key icon remains illuminated. We took it to a dealer who said it must be the battery in the key fob (replaced repeatedly with problem recurring) until finally at 49,000 miles they said it was showing code B12C5 start/stop switch has failed.
The odometer/gas gauge was shorting out, coming on sometimes and showing partial characters others. It would not come on and stay on as intended. Without the gas gauge it was near impossible to know when the gas had been depleted and I was unable to get the car inpescted without the odometer showing due to the mechanic needing to…
