Honda HR-V visibility and wiper problems, 2016–2027
423 of the 1,847 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Honda HR-V 2016–2027 name the wipers, glass and mirrors (NHTSA’s “Visibility/Wiper” heading — windshields, wipers, washers, mirrors and defrosters). The loudest years: 2023 (401), 2024 (13), 2025 (6). Filed under the same heading across these years: 18 manufacturer bulletins. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.

Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the wipers, glass and mirrors. Nothing here is a rate.
When the visibility and wiper complaints were filed, and at what mileage

Across the model years, half of the 77 owners who gave an odometer reading reported the visibility and wiper problem between 8,000 and 19,000 miles. A median of reports, not the life of a part.

The rear window of my 2023 Honda HRV blew out and hit me in the arm as I was walking around the rear of the vehicle. I was parked in an open parking lot with nothing around to strike the glass in any way. Both seals on either side of the window blew out as well.
My 2023 Honda HRV was sitting in the parking lot of a restaurant when the back window exploded outward on 06/17/2023. No impact. Just exploded on its own. Overcast, cloudy, light on and off rain and roughly 60-65 degrees F outside
The driver side wiper does not spray fluid through the top of the blade only the nozzles at the bottom spray deicer/fluid. On highway driving especially in frost freeze conditions this limits the drivers ability to see forward as road dirt and frost/ice are not able to be removed.
Two cracked have mysteriously appeared on my FRONT windshield. My vehicle was not involved in any accidents, nor have it been hit by any objects. The cracks are not on the outside, if you feel the windshield it is from the INSIDE, which indicates a factory defect since I'm the only driver of this vehicle, I can state this with 100%…
The contact owns a 2025 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the rear glass fractured, causing glass to fall into the rear of the vehicle. The contact reviewed the back over prevention camera and saw no cause for the glass to fracture.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsWhich Honda HR-V years have the most visibility and wiper complaints?
2023, 401; 2024, 13; 2025, 6. Raw counts, and an older year has had longer to collect them; by share of each year's own complaints the loudest is the 2023 (58%).
Is there a recall for the wipers, glass and mirrors on the Honda HR-V?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading on any of these model years. A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do visibility and wiper problems show up on the Honda HR-V?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 12,000 miles across the model years; half of them between 8,000 and 19,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Visibility/Wiper" heading cover?
Windshields, wipers, washers, mirrors and defrosters. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
