THE BRAKE LIGHT IS OUT AND A SINGLE TAIL LIGHT IS OVER 500$ Very dangerous to have tail light out and can cause an accident. There should be a recall on these defective LED lights

The information screen on the gauge cluster sometimes will stop working. This is dangerous as It is the only part that shows if the vehicle is in Park, Reverse, Nuetral, or drive. It also is the only part that shows the vehicles fuel level, blinker, cruise control, temperature and other warnings and controls.

Tranny failed at 92k miles even though properly maintained. Since new tranny installed by dealer (out of pocket cost) had to return due to tranny slipping into neutral when driving highway speeds and taking foot off gas. Dealer performed TCM and ECM flash updates. Cost out of pocket for programming.

The retractable side steps on the passenger side retracts while still getting into the vehicle. It almost catches the entire foot in the door. It’s a safety hazard for my children and parents. It is currently an out of pocket expense and my vehicle has less than 55000 miles on it. It has happened multiple time including today

Common questions

Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communications

Are electrical problems common on the 2017 GMC Yukon?

They are documented: NHTSA holds 53 owner complaints naming the electrical system on this model year (15% of everything owners filed about it), and 699 manufacturer bulletins are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.

Is there a recall for the electrical system on the 2017 GMC Yukon?

No recall campaign is filed under this heading for this model year (there are 3 filed under other headings). A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.

When do electrical problems show up on the 2017 GMC Yukon?

Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 50,000 miles; half of them between 14,000 and 62,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.

What does NHTSA's "Electrical System" heading cover?

Wiring, modules, batteries, charging, infotainment and driver displays — NHTSA's broadest heading. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
