The brake line may have insufficient clearance to the body mounts, which can result in brake line damage that can lead to a brake fluid leak.RiskA brake fluid leak can result in brake failure, increasing the risk of a crash.FixDealers will inspect and replace the brake line as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed November 5, 2024. A second notice will be sent once the remedy becomes available, anticipated February 28, 2025. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) after receiving one Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (VOQ) complaint related to four school buses built on General Motors (GM) van chassis. The VOQ alleged transmission failure resulting in a loss of all forward gear. In ODI's pre-investigative discussions with GM, ODI learned that valve body separator plates had been machined out of tolerance during production periods between October 2016 to April 2017 and February 2021 to April 2021.
