Filed with NHTSA by the people who own these cars, about the electrical system. Quoted as written, with anything identifying removed; unverified reports — what was said, not a finding that it was true.

When putting my vehicle in park and pressing the engine off button, I get an error message "shift to park", and the vehicle beeps and will not turn off the electrical, but the car is already in park. I AM unable to turn off my vehicle completely.

The contact owns a 2018 Gmc Acadia. When placing the vehicle into park, "action required, shift to park" appeared and a warning chime sounded. When the vehicle was placed into park and shut off, the beeping noise continued. Upon starting the vehicle, the warning noise and indicator turned off and the vehicle operated normally.
Electrical System at 32,000 miles Sep 11, 2019 NHTSA owner report
I just bought this 2018 Acadia in july and it is now giving me the shift to park alert even though the car is in park. It takes several tries of restarting and shifting to get it to turn off, so far. I'm afraid one time it will be stuck there permanently. This apparently is a known and frequent issue and Gmc needs to do a recall

When do electrical problems show up on the 2018 GMC Acadia?

Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 32,000 miles; half of them between 21,000 and 42,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.

What does NHTSA's "Electrical System" heading cover?

Wiring, modules, batteries, charging, infotainment and driver displays — NHTSA's broadest heading. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
