Filed with NHTSA by the people who own these cars, about the electrical system. Quoted as written, with anything identifying removed; unverified reports — what was said, not a finding that it was true.

The horn is very hard to honk. It takes my wife both hands to activate the horn. I have seen similar complaints on the computer. I have been back and forth with a GM representative for about 5 moths and have gotten nowhere. They apparently do not see this as a safety concern. I do.

Horn will not honk unless excessive pressure is applied. It takes 2 hands to honk the horn. I have never seen a horn that required more than 1 finger to honk

The contact owns a 2017 Gmc Acadia denali. While driving at an unknown speed, the horn failed to sound. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the horn was poorly designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was functioning as designed. The approximate failure mileage was 400
Electrical System at 400 miles Mar 20, 2017 NHTSA owner report
I bought a new 2017 Gmc Acadia denali the end of february and the next day found out that the horn does not work. The horn is extremely hard to push and requires extra pressure with both hands and arching my back against the seat to try and make the horn to work. I have been back to the dealers 3 times in 2 weeks and it is not fixed.

Horn has not worked from day one. Dealer says can't fix until GM redesigns a solution. Sad

Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communications

Are electrical problems common on the 2017 GMC Acadia?

They are documented: NHTSA holds 194 owner complaints naming the electrical system on this model year (28% of everything owners filed about it), and 317 manufacturer bulletins are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.

Is there a recall for the electrical system on the 2017 GMC Acadia?

No recall campaign is filed under this heading for this model year (there are 4 filed under other headings). A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.

When do electrical problems show up on the 2017 GMC Acadia?

Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 34,504 miles; half of them between 16,000 and 45,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.

What does NHTSA's "Electrical System" heading cover?

Wiring, modules, batteries, charging, infotainment and driver displays — NHTSA's broadest heading. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
