Ford Maverick brake problems, 2022–2026
174 of the 1,195 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Ford Maverick 2022–2026 name the brakes (NHTSA’s “Service Brakes” heading — the hydraulic brakes, ABS and brake assist). The loudest years: 2022 (109), 2023 (32), 2024 (21). Filed under the same heading across these years: 3 recall campaigns, 1 NHTSA investigation. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.

Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the brakes. Nothing here is a rate.

In owners’ own words

NHTSA #26V104: I purchased this vehicle to rent it out on Turo (a vehicle sharing platform). It was de-listed from Turo on March 18 due to NHTSA #26V104 recall being unresolved. I have been unable to rent my vehicle since then and Ford has not provided a remedy to this recall.
I have a 2022 Ford Maverick XL Hybrid and the system that failed is the rear lighting system, specifically the tail lamps, brake lamps, and rear turn signals. This appears to be related to the Body Control Module (BCM) software, which was the subject of Ford Recall 24S27 affecting many 2022–2024 Ford Mavericks.
On occasion, at slow speeds, typically when coming to a slow stop (such as at a stop sign or light), the vehicle's brakes appear to "grab", car "shutters", feels as if car's brakes are locking or vehicle is about to turn off. I am the original owner of this vehicle, less than 7,000 miles, this problem has happened approximately 10 times.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the PCM was reset. The vehicle was repaired. While driving at unknown speeds, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle began to shake.
Abnormal wear to the brake pads, has always been a slight noise in the wheel from brand new. Now at 10,500 miles being told the brake pads and rotors are shot. I consider this to be extremely abnormal for a well cared for vehicle with very low mileage
