Ford Maverick transmission and drivetrain problems, 2022–2026
368 of the 1,195 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Ford Maverick 2022–2026 name the transmission and drivetrain (NHTSA’s “Power Train” heading — the transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, axles and differentials — NHTSA files them under one heading). The loudest years: 2022 (181), 2023 (132), 2024 (46). Filed under the same heading across these years: 1 manufacturer bulletin, 7 recall campaigns. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.

Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the transmission and drivetrain. Nothing here is a rate.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that while driving on the highway at 70 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly shifted out of drive. The contact pulled over; however, the transmission failed to shift to park(P). The contact activated the parking brake and disconnected the battery to park the vehicle.
Front CV axles. Front end shakes really bad at 30-50 mph. Dealer changed front passenger side CV axle but it still shakes really bad. I'll be bringing it back to the dealership, but warranty expires soon they need to have a recall and a better replacement part for this fix. I am not the only one with this problem

I took my vehicle in to have the transmission looked at. The dealership told me that the problem was resolved. While driving down the road the transmission went into park in the middle of a two lane road.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsWhich Ford Maverick years have the most transmission and drivetrain complaints?
2022, 181; 2023, 132; 2024, 46. Raw counts, and an older year has had longer to collect them; by share of each year's own complaints the loudest is the 2023 (38%).
Is there a recall for the transmission and drivetrain on the Ford Maverick?
Yes — 7 campaigns are filed under this heading across these model years: 25V881000 (2024), 25V863000 (2026), 25V133000 (2024), 25V127000 (2022). A recall is matched by VIN, and applies to specific years; check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
When do transmission and drivetrain problems show up on the Ford Maverick?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 20,000 miles across the model years; half of them between 12,000 and 50,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Power Train" heading cover?
The transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, axles and differentials — NHTSA files them under one heading. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
