Filed with NHTSA by the people who own these cars, about the brakes. Quoted as written, with anything identifying removed; unverified reports — what was said, not a finding that it was true.

NHTSA #26V104: I purchased this vehicle to rent it out on Turo (a vehicle sharing platform). It was de-listed from Turo on March 18 due to NHTSA #26V104 recall being unresolved. I have been unable to rent my vehicle since then and Ford has not provided a remedy to this recall.
Service Brakes May 30, 2026 NHTSA owner report
I have a 2022 Ford Maverick XL Hybrid and the system that failed is the rear lighting system, specifically the tail lamps, brake lamps, and rear turn signals. This appears to be related to the Body Control Module (BCM) software, which was the subject of Ford Recall 24S27 affecting many 2022–2024 Ford Mavericks.
Service Brakes Feb 16, 2026 NHTSA owner report
The rear brakes and rotors have prematurely worn out at only 28k miles, while the front brakes are like new. There is no way for me or any local repair shop to put it into brake service mode. The official Ford procedure does not work.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communications

Are brake problems common on the 2022 Ford Maverick?

They are documented: NHTSA holds 109 owner complaints naming the brakes on this model year (18% of everything owners filed about it), and 2 recalls are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.

Is there a recall for the brakes on the 2022 Ford Maverick?

Yes — 2 campaigns are filed under this heading: 25V124000, 22V730000. A recall is matched by VIN; check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

When do brake problems show up on the 2022 Ford Maverick?

Too few of the complaints carry an odometer reading to say. The model year's page shows the mileage curve across every system where it can.

What does NHTSA's "Service Brakes" heading cover?

The hydraulic brakes, ABS and brake assist. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
