Chevrolet Corvette wheel problems, 2016–2027
457 of the 687 complaints owners filed with NHTSA about the Chevrolet Corvette 2016–2027 name the wheels (NHTSA’s “Wheels” heading — as ODI groups the complaints it receives). The loudest years: 2017 (224), 2019 (124), 2016 (59). Filed under the same heading across these years: no document yet. Every figure is a linked federal record; none is a failure rate, none a repair cost, and none a verdict on one car.

Two things the counts carry that are not the car: how many of each year were sold, and how long each has been on the road — an older year out-counts a newer one before anything is wrong with it. The share column is the honest comparison across years: what part of that year’s complaints named the wheels. Nothing here is a rate.

In owners’ own words

Driving down a street in aiken sc (york st) I ran across a manhole that was below street grade. Immediately upon speeding up, noticed vibration. Took the car to local tire dealership that specializes in Corvette tires and they verified that both wheels on the left side were bent.
Wheels bend out of round during normal use..dangerous and is a manufacturers defect that Chevrolet will not acknowledge.. I AM aware of several instances with other c7 grand sport owners this should be addressed by Chevrolet. Fixed at no charge to the owners...
After just 3,910 miles the tires were worn past the point of inspection. GM has said this is normal wear, if not for the annual inspection sticker I wouldn't have given these tires a second thought.
Car sat still for three days and when I went to drive it, the computer told me that my left rear tire was deflated to only 14 PSI instead of 30 PSI. They are run flat tires, so you can't tell if they are flat.
We have had to repair then replace 2 rear cracked rims in the 1.5 years we have owned this vehicle. The first one was 3 months after purchasing it and the second one was in january 2019. After noticing both times that first the left tire was losing air a hairline crack was noticed on the inside of the rim.

Is there a recall for the wheels on the Chevrolet Corvette?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading on any of these model years. A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do wheel problems show up on the Chevrolet Corvette?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 12,900 miles across the model years; half of them between 7,000 and 19,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Wheels" heading cover?
The area of the vehicle ODI files the complaint under. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
