The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseOwners of the 14 model years this bulletin names have filed 309 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 2 of them name Power Train — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.
The contact owns a 2021 Volvo XC90. The contact stated that upon shifting to Drive(D) while the vehicle was on an incline, the vehicle rolled back before moving forward as intended. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring, causing the vehicle to hit a garage door and a brick mailbox on two different occasions.
2021 Volvo XC90 · Power Train · filed with NHTSA Mar 13, 2026 · ODI 11724066
I have recently experienced several episodes of the vehicle suddenly going into "limp home" mode while either accelerating onto or driving along at highway speed, causing a sudden loss of drive-ability and endangering me and my vehicle as well as those other passengers and vehicles traveling near me.
2022 Volvo XC60 · Power Train · filed with NHTSA Dec 28, 2022 · ODI 11499257
Front left axle shaft failed at 18,000 miles, producing noticeable noise and vibration when accelerating and turning to the right. The car has never been in an accident, nor has there ever been an incident (e.g., striking a curb) or other abuse that could have caused this failure.
2020 Volvo V60 · Power Train · filed with NHTSA Nov 16, 2024 · ODI 11625667
A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5Is Volvo 37624 a recall?
No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.
Is the 37624 repair free?
Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.
Which vehicles does 37624 cover?
The manufacturer filed it against 14 model years: 2022 Volvo S60, 2021 Volvo S60, 2020 Volvo S60, 2022 Volvo S90, 2021 Volvo S90, 2020 Volvo S90 and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
