What it saysMBAG has determined the software of the control unit for the anti-theft warning system does not correspond to the current production configuration. NHTSA’s full summary ↓
Mercedes-Benz filed this with NHTSA as a service campaign dated Sep 4, 2025, received Oct 7, 2025, about the electrical system. It names 6 model years (2019–2024). A service campaign is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

What the bulletin says
Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communicationPicked out of NHTSA’s summary below, word for word. The document itself is the record, and the dealer checks the VIN.
MBAG has determined the software of the control unit for the anti-theft warning system does not correspond to the current production configuration. There is a possibility that the alarm system (EDW) could be triggered while the vehicle is parked and locked. MBUSA is conducting a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz Sprinter dealer will update the anti-theft system software on the affected vehicles.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

Charging issue with house battery side of class B camping van. It became somewhat apparent the system was not charging properly and quickly escalated to a high overcharge situation, followed by evidence of electrical short in smells and possible smoke in engine bay. The car was in for service for a month and a half.

The active distance assist inoperative appears when using the cruise control. This comes on when no traffic in front of the vehicle for 1 hour or less. Also Active Brake Assist functions limited - see operators Manual To reset: follow another vehicle for 5 minutes. This is Very Very Very frustrating and UNSAFE.
