What the dealer does An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will replace the certification label on the B-Pillar.

Picked out of NHTSA’s summary below, word for word. The document itself is the record, and the dealer checks the VIN.

Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain MY 2022-2025 GLE/GLS (167 platform), EQB (243 platform), GLA (247 platform), EQE (294 platform), EQS (296 platform), and GLC (254 platform) vehicles, the B-pillar certification label might not contain the vehicle’s rim size, tire size, and cold tire inflation pressure information as required by FMVSS 110. In this case, relevant regulatory requirements might not be met. Mercedes-Benz believes this issue has no impact on vehicle safety. Mercedes-Benz intends to submit a petition to NHTSA for exemption from the notification and remedy requirements of 49 U.S.C. chapter 301, pursuant to 49 CFR Part 556, on the basis that this noncompliance is inconsequential as it relates to motor vehicle safety. MBUSA will conduct a service campaign to remedy new vehicles in dealer inventory. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will replace the certification label on the B-Pillar.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Mercedes-Benz 2024060001 a recall?

No. A service campaign is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the 2024060001 repair free?

A service campaign is usually paid by the manufacturer on the vehicles it names, within the terms and time limit the document sets; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

Which vehicles does 2024060001 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 17 model years across 2 brands (Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-Maybach): 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB, 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB, 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE, 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE, 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS, 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
