What it saysORDERING REQUIREMENT FOR AT COMPONENTS FOR H3T (INLINE 6) Use this guide before ordering or replacing an AT component on applicable H3T vehicles. NHTSA’s full summary ↓
Mazda filed this with NHTSA as a manufacturer communication dated Sep 30, 2026, received Oct 1, 2026, about the power train. It names 5 model years (2024–2026). A manufacturer communication is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

What the bulletin says
Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communicationSUBJECT: ORDERING REQUIREMENT FOR AT COMPONENTS FOR H3T (INLINE 6) Use this guide before ordering or replacing an AT component on applicable H3T vehicles. QUICK CHECKLIST BEFORE ORDERING • Confirm the vehicle is a CX-90 (KK) or CX-70 (KJ) with H3T and is within the applicable market coverage. • In GEPC, identify the AT component part number for the vehicle. • Use the GEPC lookup tables below to determine whether the vehicle requires Table A or Table B parts. • Order the complete set of parts listed in the applicable table. DO NOT order the AT component by itself. • Check whether water hose removal is required for that GEPC part number. • Follow the applicable WSM repair procedure for AT component removal/installation, water hose removal, and oil hose/oil pipe installation in MGSS. IMPORTANT: If only the AT component is ordered, required replacement parts will be missing, and the repair cannot be completed.

Read by machine from the document NHTSA serves (5 pages), read Oct 1, 2026. A part number is shown only where it matches Mazda’s own catalogue shape, an operation only with its code and time, and a description only where the reader got it whole; anything it could not settle is left out, and the PDF is the record. Times are the manufacturer’s warranty allowances, not a quote. Listings and prices on eBay Motors are the seller’s.
Affiliate disclosure: some links on this page are affiliate links. If you request a quote or buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Nothing on this page changes because of it.
The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseOwners of the 5 model years this bulletin names have filed 547 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 134 of them name Engine, Power Train — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.
I own a 2026 Mazda CX-90 hybrid with approximately 13,000 miles. The vehicle began making a grinding noise while driving, which has progressively worsened over time. It has since developed a hard knocking noise accompanied by noticeable vibration when the vehicle shifts gears. This knocking occurs during normal in-town driving.

My boyfriend and I rented the car from Hertz Car Rental in on Labor Day weekend. Within moments of driving the car off the lot, the safety camera system stopped working and the lights came on saying they weren’t working. The touch screen also started glitching and intermittently working but we didn’t think too much about it.

My car is literally stalling out on me. It started by sputtering when I put my foot on the gas a week or so ago. Then today It literally started just losing power while driving. It’s not throwing any codes but that’s super dangerous and this car is only a year old. I am extremely concerned for my safety

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5Is Mazda PF-26-04 a recall?
No. A manufacturer communication is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.
Is the PF-26-04 repair free?
Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.
Which vehicles does PF-26-04 cover?
The manufacturer filed it against 5 model years: 2026 Mazda CX-70, 2025 Mazda CX-70, 2026 Mazda CX-90, 2025 Mazda CX-90, 2024 Mazda CX-90. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
