Mazda bulletin 01-002-26a
What it saysThis bulletin supersedes the previously issued bulletin(s) listed below. NHTSA’s full summary ↓
Mazda filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Jun 12, 2026, received Jul 3, 2026, about the engine. It names 5 model years (2024–2026). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

What the bulletin says
Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communicationThis bulletin supersedes the previously issued bulletin(s) listed below. The changes are noted in Red. 01-002/26 01/07/26 DESCRIPTION Some vehicles may exihibit a vibration in the accelerator pedal and steering wheel when accelerating during a sharp left-hand turn. An abnormal noise may also be heard from the footwell area. This may be caused by insufficient clearance between the engine mount stopper rubber and the engine mount bracket. Customer may state: Vehicle shudders/vibrates on left turns, most often when accelerating from a stop or entering a driveway. • They feel a pop or grind in the accelerator pedal when the vibration occurs. • They hear a rumbling or grinding noise, mainly from the right side, during the left-turn shudder. • NOTE: The condition does not occur at shallow steering angles or when the vehicle is stationary and the steering effort remains unchanged when the vibration and noise are present. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Verify the customer concern. NOTE: DO NOT use power tools in this procedure. Use hand tools only. 2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal using the procedure in [NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION]. 3. Remove the engine cover. b. Replace the stopper rubber (2) with a modified part.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseOwners of the 5 model years this bulletin names have filed 547 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 96 of them name Engine — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.
I own a 2026 Mazda CX-90 hybrid with approximately 13,000 miles. The vehicle began making a grinding noise while driving, which has progressively worsened over time. It has since developed a hard knocking noise accompanied by noticeable vibration when the vehicle shifts gears. This knocking occurs during normal in-town driving.

My boyfriend and I rented the car from Hertz Car Rental in on Labor Day weekend. Within moments of driving the car off the lot, the safety camera system stopped working and the lights came on saying they weren’t working. The touch screen also started glitching and intermittently working but we didn’t think too much about it.

Vehicle is in normal mode with EV mode engaged, car is going 70mph and suddenly accelerator stops working and decelerates to ~60mph until vehicle suddenly aggressively switches to gas mode and accelerates again

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5Is Mazda 01-002-26a a recall?
No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.
Is the 01-002-26a repair free?
Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.
Which vehicles does 01-002-26a cover?
The manufacturer filed it against 5 model years: 2026 Mazda CX-70, 2025 Mazda CX-70, 2026 Mazda CX-90, 2025 Mazda CX-90, 2024 Mazda CX-90. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
