What it saysROLLER ROCKER Case 1.- Before replacing the intake or exhaust rocker arms due to an abnormal ticking noise, please check that the INTAKE Hydraulic Lash Adjusters are not "collapsed". NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Stellantis filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated May 2, 2023, received Apr 17, 2023, about the back over prevention — 3 documents under this number. It names 27 model years across Jeep, Ram and Chrysler (2018–2023). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

ROCKER ARM ASSY - ROLLER ROCKER Case 1.- Before replacing the intake or exhaust rocker arms due to an abnormal ticking noise, please check that the INTAKE Hydraulic Lash Adjusters are not "collapsed". If a collapsed INTAKE HLA is found, replace all INTAKE HLAs on the suspect cylinder head (no need to replace rocker arms). The noise can occur at low or high RPMs, and at low or high temperatures. There are no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)s present. Case 2.- If the INTAKE camshaft or INTAKE rocker arm has excessive wear on the high lift profile (Rocker arm: slider, Camshaft: central lobe), replace the intake camshaft (1) in that cylinder head and all intake rocker arms (6).

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 27 model years this bulletin names have filed 12,537 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 878 of them name Suspension, Back Over Prevention — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

On the 2018 Jeep Wrangler, the 258 owners who gave an odometer reading for Suspension reported it at a median of 8,000 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.

The contact owns a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in-Hybrid. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V436000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION); however, the dealer refused to perform the recall repair unless the radio was replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the radio was blocking the update from being completed.

I own a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. On August 18, 2025, the rear suspension coil detached and fell off in my driveway. I had the vehicle repaired at an authorized Jeep dealership. However, on **August 31, 2025 — just 13 days later — the exact same coil spring detached again, this time while I was driving at freeway speeds.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Stellantis 9100133 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the 9100133 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does 9100133 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 27 model years across 3 brands (Jeep, Ram and Chrysler): 2023 Chrysler Pacifica, 2022 Chrysler Pacifica, 2021 Chrysler Pacifica, 2020 Chrysler Pacifica, 2019 Chrysler Pacifica, 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
