Stellantis bulletin 09-010-25
What it says"2.4L Excessive Oil Consumption XS1 Warranty Extension The customer may describe one or more of the following: Oil pressure low indicator lamp illumination between oil changes. NHTSA’s full summary ↓
Stellantis filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Apr 30, 2025, received May 6, 2025, about the engine. It names 8 model years across Jeep, Ram and Fiat (2016–2018). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

Read by machine from the document NHTSA serves (4 pages), read Sep 30, 2026. A part number is shown only where it matches Stellantis’s own catalogue shape, an operation only with its code and time, and a description only where the reader got it whole; anything it could not settle is left out, and the PDF is the record. Times are the manufacturer’s warranty allowances, not a quote. Listings and prices on eBay Motors are the seller’s.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseOwners of the 8 model years this bulletin names have filed 1,658 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 731 of them name Engine — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.
On the 2017 Jeep Renegade, the 185 owners who gave an odometer reading for Engine reported it at a median of 32,000 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram Promaster City. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, there was gray smoke coming from the exhaust pipe and the engine. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact who is a certified mechanic, performed an oil change and became aware that the engine was extremely low on engine oil.

While driving, my Jeep Renegade will just turn off. I have to pull off to the side of the road and put the car in park and try to restart the car a couple of times. This will cause a major accident to someone someday. It just shuts off without warning. It's a 2018 Jeep Renegade with 5k miles! Why would it just shut off?
2018 Jeep Renegade · Engine · filed with NHTSA Dec 26, 2018 · ODI 11163565
I purchased my vehicle in 2020. I was not aware there was an open recall on this vehicle for an oil consumption issue. The dealer did not tell me and I received no notice from Fiat/Chrysler over the next two years. I began having a problem with the engine cutting out as I was driving down the road without any warning.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5Is Stellantis 09-010-25 a recall?
No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.
Is the 09-010-25 repair free?
Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way. Every Stellantis warranty extension on file lists the ones Stellantis has filed.
Which vehicles does 09-010-25 cover?
The manufacturer filed it against 8 model years across 3 brands (Jeep, Ram and Fiat): 2018 Fiat 500 X, 2017 Fiat 500 X, 2016 Fiat 500 X, 2018 Jeep Renegade, 2017 Jeep Renegade, 2016 Jeep Renegade and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone. The document itself sets the build window: built 20 Oct 2014 – 3 Dec 2018; built 15 Jan 2015 – 27 Jul 2018; built 14 Aug 2014 – 15 Sep 2018 — the build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb.
