Counts are owner reports to NHTSA, not verified defects, and scale with how many of these were sold; nothing here is a rate. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so “Engine” means the same area of the vehicle, not one fault.

Transmission kicks from first to second at take off after stops. Usually traffic lights. I have taken the car in for service twice, the kick doesn't happen all the time anymore, but it still happens. It's a concern since i've almost been rear ended twice
On 3/30/2019, after a short drive (approx. 0.5 miles), the following message appeared on the dashboard: 'drive mode unavailable' and 'service engine'. This was also accompanied by what seemed to be much more noticeable vibration from the working engine and a subtle smell of something burning.
Vehicle shifts roughly when in motion, when starting out and also while driving. Sometimes it does it when I start to slow down and then speed back up. I have notified the service department and they say they can't find a problem

My 2016 Fiat 500X started overheating with approximately 32,900 miles on it. I had the fan assembly and 50 amp fuse replaced. It is starting to make the same noise I had noticed weeks before it overheated again

Common questions
Source: NHTSA complaint database, recalls and manufacturer communicationsAre engine problems common on the 2016 Fiat 500 X?
They are documented: NHTSA holds 52 owner complaints naming the engine on this model year (34% of everything owners filed about it), and 47 manufacturer bulletins are filed under the same heading. Whether it is a problem on one particular car is a diagnosis, not a count, and a count says nothing about how many were sold.
Is there a recall for the engine on the 2016 Fiat 500 X?
No recall campaign is filed under this heading for this model year (there are 1 filed under other headings). A bulletin is not a recall: it carries no federal duty to repair for free.
When do engine problems show up on the 2016 Fiat 500 X?
Owners who gave an odometer reading reported it at a median of 32,900 miles; half of them between 26,000 and 47,000. That is when reports cluster, not the life of a part.
What does NHTSA's "Engine" heading cover?
The engine and its cooling system. Owners choose the heading when they file, so it says which area of the vehicle the complaint is about, not which part failed.
