This may be due to the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software. To correct this concern, perform a soft reset by pressing the Power and Seek Foward buttons for 5 seconds, or use the SYNC Module Reset function of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). When I pressed Start yesterday a loud ear-splitting noise emitted from the sound system. It took my shocked brain a moment to realize it wasn't a security alert. When I realized nothing I did would get it to shut off, I got out of the vehicle. It eventually stopped, and the sound system doesn't work at all now.
