Chrysler warranty extension 98747
What it saysFCA Caribbean Warranty Bulletin ID-23-07 Rev. NHTSA’s full summary ↓
Chrysler filed this with NHTSA as a warranty extension dated Jun 12, 2024, received Jun 13, 2024, about the power train. It names 7 model years (2017–2023). A warranty extension is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported
Source: NHTSA complaint databaseOwners of the 7 model years this bulletin names have filed 4,270 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 1,142 of them name Power Train — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.
On the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, the 302 owners who gave an odometer reading for Power Train reported it at a median of 27,000 miles. That figure is one model year’s, not the whole range this bulletin covers — medians from different model years are not averaged.
Was driving the vehicle and all of a sudden the vehicle lost ability to accelerate. Warning of "Service Charging System" appears on the dash and the "D" indicator starts blinking. Warning of "Shift to P to Start" appears and check engine light comes on. I tried to shift to park and restart the vehicle, but it did not do anything.
2020 Chrysler Pacifica · Power Train · filed with NHTSA Jan 6, 2023 · ODI 11500496
While traveling at full highway speed, the Pacifica turned off entirely without warning. We had to navigate in traffic through 4 lanes to pull over with children in the vehicle. The vehicle would not turn back on after pulled over until hours afterwards. However we towed the vehicle to a dealership due to the safety concern
2022 Chrysler Pacifica · Power Train · filed with NHTSA Mar 7, 2023 · ODI 11510569
Very LOUD metallic clanking noise while driving 40-50 mph coming from front left wheel. When I inspected it, I saw that the front left wheel bearing hub mounting bolt had backed out of the hub and steering knuckle and onto the CV shaft end, which is what caused the clanking. I have photos of this damage.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5Is Chrysler 98747 a recall?
No. A warranty extension is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.
Is the 98747 repair free?
A warranty extension is usually paid by the manufacturer on the vehicles it names, within the terms and time limit the document sets; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.
Which vehicles does 98747 cover?
The manufacturer filed it against 7 model years: 2023 Chrysler Pacifica, 2022 Chrysler Pacifica, 2021 Chrysler Pacifica, 2020 Chrysler Pacifica, 2019 Chrysler Pacifica, 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone. The document itself sets the build window: built 12 Aug 2016 – 27 Dec 2022 — the build date is on the certification label in the driver’s door jamb.
